Plantabox.co.uk, operates from a studio workshop near Exeter, with 15 people in the design and manufacture of personalised wooden crates for the gift and major occasion market. Big dates each year are Valentine’s Day, Mothers’ Day, Father’s Day, the wedding season and the run up to Christmas.

We obsess about the smallest things – have we got the right glue, do the staples line up, are we offering this year’s colours, is the personalisation correct, do we answer the phone within three rings. You name it, we’re on it,” he says.
